Afternoon Treats - flat white from Tinderbox (£2.15) and Green tea mascarpone and red bean dorayaki Japanese pancake (£1.50) Tinderbox’s flat white trumps Taylor Street Barista’s flat white (£2.40) both in terms of flavour and price. As a patriot, I’ve frequented Aussie cafe, Taylor Street Baristas for my occasional expresso fix. The velvety milk and strong coffee at Tinderbox has won me over and now I’ve found a suitable replacement. Tinderbox, 100 Middlesex Street, London E1 7LF Thanks to a friend’s recommendation I today had lunch at Japanika, a tiny Japanese take away joint on the fringes of Spitafields Market and Brick Lane. The food available is far more superior than the chains Wasabi and Itsu and at reasonable prices. A house special sushi set costs only £6.90 and the dorayaki Japanese pancake is a dirt cheap £1.50.
